Nyero Rock Paintings Site is listed among the gazetted national cultural sites and monuments of Uganda.
The rock art paintings in eastern Uganda provide prehistoric evidence of human settlement in Uganda. They are one of the rock shelters with paintings and engravings included in the national database inventory of cultural sites.
The tourist arrivals at Nyero Rock Art sites have doubled over the past years, contributing to Uganda’s tourism economy.
Nyero Rock Art sites are among the 300 sites fully inventoried into the National Database system. They form part of the cross section of types of cultural resources including rock shelters with paintings and engravings, caves, forest groves and earthworks.
